What's the difference between a pie and a tart?
Pies and tarts are very similar. Both have a pastry case with a tasty filling. The main difference is the tart has a crust on the bottom with shallow sides, whereas a pie can have a pastry top.
The crust for a pie and a tart can differ too. A pie crust is flakier and crispier whereas a tart is sweeter and made from a simpler pastry dough.
