Storage
Allow the air-fried butternut squash to cool to room temperature before storing it. If you plan to consume it within a few days, you can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Make sure the container is tightly sealed to prevent moisture loss and odors from affecting the squash.
Freezing Air Fried Butternut Squash
If you want to store air-fried butternut squash for an extended period, consider freezing it. First, spread the cooked squash pieces in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze until solid. Then, transfer the frozen pieces to an airtight freezer-safe container or a freezer bag. This helps prevent the pieces from sticking together. Properly stored, frozen air-fried butternut squash can last for several months.
To reheat refrigerated or frozen air-fried butternut squash, you can use your air fryer again for a few minutes or use an oven at around 350°F (175°C). Be sure to check for doneness as it reheats to prevent overcooking.

Ingredients
- 4 cups butternut squash cut into cubes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to preheat for 5 minutes while you prepare the butternut squash.
- Start by peeling the butternut squash with a vegetable peeler. Then, cut off both ends of the squash. Cut the squash in half horizontally where the thinner neck meets the wider base.
- Use a spoon to scoop out the seeds and stringy flesh from both halves. Cut the neck and base of the squash into bite-sized cubes. Aim for uniform pieces to ensure even cooking.
- In a large mixing bowl, toss the cubed butternut squash with olive oil, salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder. Ensure the squash pieces are evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.
- Place the seasoned butternut squash cubes in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook the squash in batches.
- Cook the butternut squash at 375°F (190°C) for about 15-20 minutes, shaking or shaking the pieces halfway through the cooking time. The squash should be golden brown and fork-tender when done. Adjust the cooking time as needed, as it may vary depending on your air fryer model.
- Once the butternut squash is cooked to your desired crispiness and tenderness, remove it from the air fryer and serve hot. You can garnish it with fresh herbs like parsley or a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese if you like.
