Carbs in Celery
Celery is low in carbohydrates and high in fiber, making it an excellent choice for those following a ketogenic diet. Celery contains about 3 grams of carbohydrates per 100 grams, with around 1.4 grams of net carbs (after subtracting fiber). Celery is low in calories but provides essential nutrients such as vitamin K, vitamin C, potassium, and folate.
Ingredients
You can simply stuff celery sticks with cream cheese and a few herbs or try one of these five filling ideas.
- Celery sticks - The stalks should be firm and crisp. When you bend them, they should snap easily. Choose medium to large stalks for stuffing. Thinner stalks are better for salads or cooking.
- Cream cheese - softened at room temperature for easy stuffing.
Stuffed Celery Flavor Ideas
We used these flavorings with cream cheese to stuff celery sticks:
- Jalapeno Cheddar Cheese - Finely chopped jalapeno and grated Cheddar cheese.
- Ranch - Ranch seasoning is added to cream cheese.
- Everything Bagel - Not just for bagels, this seasoning goes great with cream cheese.
- Sundried Tomato - Add a Mediterranean flavor.
- Buffalo Sauce and Blue Cheese - Spicy Franks Hot Sauce topped with blue cheese crumbles.
Step by Step Instructions
This is so simple I should be ashamed of myself for posting instructions!
Wash and prepare celery sticks
Mix the different flavors with cream cheese, then stuff the celery sticks.
Storage
You can prepare these celery sticks ahead and store them in the fridge in an airtight container. If you need to stack the celery sticks, place a piece of wax paper or parchment paper between layers to prevent them from sticking together. They will last up to 2 days.
