IS BLUE CHEESE DRESSING KETO?
Not all commercial and restaurant blue cheese salad dressing are keto friendly as they may have buttermilk or hidden oils and sugars in them. When you make your own salad dressings you know exactly what is in them too.
Always read the labels on any store bought dressings.
CARBS IN BLUE CHEESE
Blue cheese has just 0.7g net carbohydrates per 1oz (28g) serving. There are a few varieties of blue cheese that you could use in this dressing. Danish blue (0g net carbs, Dolcelatte (0g net carbs), Roquefort (0.6g net carbs) and Stilton (0g net carbs) all at a 1oz (28g serving), Gorgonzola (0g).
Most cheeses are great for a keto diet as they are very low in carbs.
HOW MANY CARBS IN BLUE CHEESE DRESSING
This recipe has 0 g net carbs per serving which is slightly less than store bought which can vary from 0.8g to 1.5 g carbohydrates per serving. However, with homemade dressings, there are no additives or preservatives. Always check the labels of any store bought dressing.
HOW TO MAKE KETO BLUE CHEESE DRESSING
This creamy cheesy homemade blue cheese dressing just has a few ingredients and is easy to make.
- Blue Cheese - I used normal blue cheese but you could use other varieties of blue cheese. Roquefort is another favorite.
- Mayonnaise - home made is always best!
- Sour Cream - this helps with the cream texture and gives a subtle sharp taste that goes well with the blue cheese.
- Apple Cider Vinegar - You could substitute this with lemon juice.
- Garlic Powder - This can be optional and you could always add it last and taste test the dressing.
- Salt & Pepper - Always an essential seasoning.
HOW TO MAKE KETO BLUE CHEESE DRESSING
We made this easy keto blue cheese dressing in a bowl as we like the blue cheese crumbles in our dressing. A smoother dressing could be made in a food blender or food processor.
Mash the cheese in a bowl
Add the remaining ingredients
Mix until smooth with cheese crumbles
Store in a mason jar and it's ready to serve
STORAGE
Store this delicious salad dressing in an airtight container or glass jar and keep it in the refrigerator. It will last up to a week.
VARIATIONS
- This dressing can be made into a sauce if added to a few tablespoons of Greek yogurt.
- Add fresh herbs such as chopped parsley or chives.
- Add bacon bits or crumbs

Ingredients
- 4 oz blue cheese
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ⅓ cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Crumble the blue cheese and add to a medium bowl.
- Using a fork, mash the blue cheese.
- Add the mayonnaise, sour cream apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, salt & pepper.
- Stir well until combined to your desired consistency.
- Store in an airtight container or mason jar in the fridge. It should last up to a week.
