These chocolate truffles are made with avocado rather than the traditional cream yet the result is just as rich and creamy but healthier. I dare you to stop at two!
These avocado truffle chocolates would be a great gift in fancy casings and a cute box. Just don't tell anyone that there is avocado in them as they might not know. The joy of avocado is that it is a great replacement for butter and dairy substitutes in cooking. I've even made cookies with them instead of butter.
If you like avocado chocolate pudding you will love these chocolate truffles. They are easy to make and can be flavoured to your own tastes. I rolled some of mine in cocoa powder, but had I had some desiccated coconut in my cupboards, would have rolled half in them. Finely chopped nuts would be great too. Oooh, I'm initially thinking hazelnuts..but willing to change nuts for the right flavour combination.
I added a couple of teaspoons of coconut oil simply to make sure the mixture held together and it gave the truffles a slight glossy sheen too! You could always leave this out if you are not too keen on coconut oil.
The flavour combination of nutmeg and chocolate is divine and purely as a result of a visit that I had to a local chocolate factory. That was a delicious afternoon as well as fascinating as to how the chocolate was made. The samples as we went through the tour were an additional delight and I came away purchasing every bar they made.
If you are not a fan of nutmeg use other flavourings. Cinnamon perhaps? Or orange essence.
