Enjoy a delightful Apple Cream Cheese Cake made without flour. This creamy, rich dessert features the tangy sweetness of apples blended with smooth cream cheese and eggs. Perfect for those seeking a gluten-free, low-carb treat, it offers a luscious, melt-in-your-mouth texture with every bite. Ideal for any occasion, this cake is both simple and satisfying.
Although I have called this a cake, it's more like a slab of cheesecake with apples in it! I baked it in a loaf tin, purely to show the slices of apples but a circular springform baking tin can be used too.
I enjoyed this without any sweetener but the Chief Taster would have me add a dash of low carb sweetener for the next one. I served a couple of slices with a spoonful of my caramel sauce which helped with his sweet tooth desires!

Are Apples Low Carb?
Apples are not typically considered a low-carb food, but they can still be included in a low-carb diet in moderation. A medium apple contains about 21 grams of net carbohydrates, which can be a significant portion of the daily carb limit on a ketogenic diet, which typically ranges from 20 to 50 grams of net carbs per day.
Lowest Sugar Apples
If you're looking for apples with lower sugar content, here are a few varieties that generally have less sugar compared to other apples:
- Granny Smith: Known for their tart flavor, Granny Smith apples have some of the lowest sugar content among apple varieties.
- Braeburn: These apples have a balance of sweetness and tartness and tend to have lower sugar content.
- Crispin (Mutsu): Another variety with a balanced flavor profile and relatively lower sugar levels.
- Golden Delicious: While they are sweeter than Granny Smith, Golden Delicious apples still have a lower sugar content compared to many other varieties.
To give you an idea, a medium Granny Smith apple has about 16-18 grams of sugar, whereas sweeter varieties like Fuji or Gala can have around 19-23 grams of sugar.
Is Cream Cheese Keto?
Cream cheese is generally considered keto-friendly. It is low in carbohydrates and high in fat, making it suitable for a ketogenic diet. A 1 ounce or 28 grams serving has 1g net carbs.
Ingredients
Grab your apples, cream cheese and eggs. Use any flavoring you wish and you are set to bake! We don't use any sweetener but feel free to add it if you have a sweeter tooth than us.
- Apples - we used Granny Smith apples but any other type can be use.
- Cream cheese - ensure that it is softened at room temperature before use so it will blend smoother.
- Eggs - room temperature eggs are better for blending with the cream cheese for a smoother mixture.
- Vanilla extract - adds a touch of sweetness.
- Cinnamon - a great spice to go with apple. Add more if you wish. Try a dash of allspice or nutmeg too.
How to Make Apple Cream Cheese Cake
This is a simple recipe to make that does not take long either.
Thinly slice the peeled and cored apples.
Mix the cream cheese, eggs and flavorings in a bowl until smooth.
Add the sliced apples to the cream cheese mixture.
Spoon into a parchment paper lined baking tin.
Top with apple slices for decoration.
Baked until firm and golden.
Storage
Once cooled, store the apple cream cheese cake in the fridge in an air tight container. It should last up to 4 days. Once in the fridge, the texture will firm up.
Freezing
You can slice the cake into individual portions before freezing. This makes it easier to thaw and serve only what you need. Wrap the cake or individual slices tightly in plastic wrap. Ensure there is no exposure to air, as this can cause freezer burn.
After wrapping in plastic, you can add an additional layer of protection by wrapping it in aluminum foil or placing it in a freezer-safe bag or container. The keto apple cream cheese cake can be stored in the freezer for up to 2-3 months.
For the best texture and taste, thaw the cake in the refrigerator overnight. This allows it to thaw slowly and evenly.
