Carbs in Twix Bars
It will not come as a surprise that the classic Twix Bars are high in carbs, as they have a lot of sugar. A regular Twix bar contains approximately 27-30 grams of carbs per standard serving (1 bar, about 50 grams).
By comparison, keto Twix cookies are designed to be low in carbs, typically containing 3-6 grams of net carbs per serving, depending on the specific recipe and ingredients used. This makes them a great alternative for satisfying your Twix cravings without breaking your carb budget!
Cookie Ingredients
Grab your ingredients and get ready to bake a tasty low carb and gluten-free cookie.
Although we used our almond flour butter cookie recipe for the base, you could use another favorite cookie recipe.
For the sweetener, we used allulose but any other low carb sweetener can be used.
We used our easy sugar-free caramel sauce and kept it in the fridge to thicken before use. A store bought caramel sauce can be used too.
For the chocolate, use unsweetened dark chocolate.
How to Make Keto Twix Cookies
Once you have your caramel sauce, this is a quick and easy cookie recipe to make. The hardest part is waiting for the chocolate layer to set before eating them!
Blend sweetener, vanilla and butter.
Add almond flour.
Work into a dough.
Roll, cut cookie shapes and bake.
Cool and slather a layer of sugar free caramel.
Top with melted chocolate and cool.
Cookie Recipe Tips
Use Room Temperature Butter. Ensure the butter is softened but not melted. This helps the dough mix evenly and prevents it from becoming too greasy.
Keep an eye on the cookie base while baking—overbaking can lead to a dry or overly crisp texture. The cookies should be golden and slightly firm around the edges.
To make handling the dough easier and to help the cookies hold their shape, chill the dough in the fridge for 20-30 minutes before baking. This will also enhance the texture of the cookie base.
Storage
Store your keto Twix cookies in an airtight container in the fridge. They can also be frozen for up to 2 months.
Make a Keto Twix Bar
If you would prefer a version of the Twix bars, bake the almond flour cookie dough in a square tin, spread out evenly. Then cover with the caramel sauce and top with the melted chocolate. Once chilled, slice into thin bars.

Ingredients
Cookie Base
- ½ cup butter, room temperature
- ½ cup allulose or other sweetener
- 2 cups almond flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Caramel Layer
- ¼ cup butter
- ¼ cup brown monk fruit sweetener
- ½ cup heavy cream
Chocolate Topping
- 3 oz sugar-free chocolate
Instructions
Make the Caramel Sauce
- Melt the butter in a small saucepan and let it cook, stirring every so often, until fully browned (about 5 minutes).
- Add in your low carb sweetener of choice. Let that dissolve for a minute whilst stirring.
- Pour in heavy cream and stir until combined. Lower the heat and simmer for a minute.
- Cook until you see it getting thicker and stir the sauce intermediately to ensure it does not stick. This should take about 15 minutes.
- Allow to cool and thicken before use. Storing it in the fridge helps.
Make the Cookies
- Preheat the oven to 180C/350F degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, cream the butter, vanilla and the sweetener.
- Add the almond flour and form into a dough.
- Roll out the cookie dough between two pieces of parchment paper. Using a cookie cutter, cut out the cookie shapes and place them on a parchment paper lined baking tray.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until the edge of the cookies are golden.
- Remove the cookies from the oven and allow to cool completely.
Assembly
- Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or microwave in short bursts, stirring in between. This prevents it from seizing up or burning.
- Spoon a layer of the caramel sauce over the cooled cookies.
- Top with the melted chocolate and chill until the chocolate firms.
- Eat and enjoy!
