    What is Keto Honey?

Traditional honey is not suitable for a keto diet due to its high sugar content, which can significantly impact blood sugar levels and kick the body out of ketosis. However, keto honey substitutes traditional honey with low-carb sweeteners that have minimal or no impact on blood sugar.

Keto honey alternatives often use ingredients such as sugar alcohols like erythritol or natural sweeteners like stevia or monk fruit extract. These sweeteners provide a sweet taste without the high carbohydrate content. Some keto honey products may also include additional flavorings or extracts to enhance the honey-like flavor.

While keto honey may not have the exact same taste and consistency as traditional honey, it can be a suitable replacement in various recipes, including sauces, dressings, and baked goods. It allows individuals on a keto diet to enjoy a hint of sweetness without compromising their carbohydrate intake or overall dietary goals.

The brands of keto honey we use are the Besti Honey and ChocZero Sugar Free Honey.

Fire up the grill, grab that bottle of sugar free honey and get ready to make a delicious sauce.

    • Keto Ketchup - we use our homemade ketchup recipe but you might be able to find sugar free ketchup in some stores.
    • Keto Honey - The Besti brand of sugar free honey is a good option.
    • Apple Cider Vinegar - use a organic brand that contains the "mother," which is a beneficial colony of bacteria and enzymes that contribute to its health benefits and give it a cloudy appearance.
    • Sweetener - for a richer flavor we use brown monk fruit sweetener. Any other low carb sugar substitutes may be used.
    • Spices - we used a mixture of onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper. You could add a dash of chili powder or cayenne for a touch of heat to your sauce.

How to use keto honey BBQ sauce

Keto honey BBQ sauce is a delicious and versatile condiment that can be used in a variety of ways and is not just for grilling. Here are some ideas on how to use it:

    1. Grilled Meats: Brush the keto honey BBQ sauce onto grilled chicken, pork chops, or ribs during the last few minutes of cooking. The sauce will caramelize and add a sweet and smoky flavor to the meats.
    2. Burgers: Spread a dollop of keto honey BBQ sauce on top of your favorite keto-friendly burger patties for a burst of tangy and sweet flavor.
    3. Chicken Wings: Toss cooked chicken wings in the keto honey BBQ sauce for a finger-licking appetizer. You can also bake the sauced wings in the oven for a few minutes to allow the sauce to stick and slightly caramelize.
    4. Meatballs: Combine the keto honey BBQ sauce with cooked meatballs, either homemade or store-bought, and let them simmer in the sauce for a few minutes to infuse the flavors.
    5. Vegetables: Use the keto honey BBQ sauce as a glaze for roasted or grilled vegetables like cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, or zucchini. It will add a delightful sweetness and a touch of smokiness to the veggies.
    6. Stir-Fries: Add a spoonful of keto honey BBQ sauce to stir-fried meat and vegetables to elevate the flavor profile. It works particularly well with chicken, beef, or shrimp stir-fries.
    7. Sandwiches and Wraps: Spread keto honey BBQ sauce on keto-friendly bread or wraps as a flavorful condiment for sandwiches or wraps filled with grilled chicken, pulled pork, or roasted vegetables.
    8. Dipping Sauce: Serve the keto honey BBQ sauce as a dipping sauce for low-carb chicken tenders, keto-friendly fries, or vegetable sticks. It will add a tangy and sweet element to your favorite snacks.
