Almond cookies are a classic, versatile treat with a rich, nutty flavor and a tender, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Made primarily from almond flour, these cookies are naturally low carb, dairy-free and gluten-free and boast a delightful balance of sweetness and aromatic almond essence with a chewy texture.

A charming display of almond cookies graces the two-tiered stand, with three delicately perched on a blue plate. A rich red cloth and a glass jar provide an elegant backdrop to this delightful scene.

The flaked almond topping adds a satisfying crunch, while the glossy finish from an egg white wash enhances their visual appeal. Perfectly crisp on the edges and soft in the center, almond cookies are both elegant and comforting, making them ideal for any occasion—from a casual snack to a sophisticated dessert.

How To Make Almond Cookies

This is a quick and easy cookie recipe that will have you wanting to bake this on a weekly basis!

A glass bowl with melted butter, flour, and almond flour on a dark countertop.

Mix all ingredients.

Dip balls of the dough into egg whites and almond flakes.

Place on a baking sheet and bake until golden.

Recipe Tips

Use finely ground almond flour for a smoother dough and better texture. Avoid almond meal, which is coarser and can make the cookies gritty.

If the dough feels too sticky to work with, refrigerate it for 20–30 minutes to make shaping easier.

Almond cookies can go from golden to burnt quickly, so keep an eye on them. They should be lightly golden around the edges when done and will firm up as they cool.

While almond extract enhances the flavor beautifully, you can also add a splash of vanilla or orange extract for a unique twist.

Small almond pastries, or almond cookies, are displayed on a tiered tray, with more on a blue plate. A red cloth and a glass jar provide a charming backdrop on the marble surface.

Storage

Place the completely cooled cookies in an airtight container in the fridge and they will last up to 10 days.

Freezing Cookies

Arrange the cooled cookies in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze until firm. Transfer them to a freezer-safe bag or container with parchment paper between layers. Store for up to 3 months.

Thaw at room temperature before serving or warm them slightly in the oven.
