Sugar-free iced lavender tea is a delightful and refreshing beverage that combines the calming essence of lavender with the invigorating flavors of iced tea. This beverage offers a guilt-free, aromatic experience without any added sugars, making it perfect for a hot summer's day.

A glass and a carafe filled with iced coffee sit on a wooden surface. An empty glass and a white cloth with text are in the background. Lavender flowers are placed beside the glass.

This keto iced tea can be enjoyed as a relaxing afternoon treat or as a sophisticated refreshment for gatherings. We enjoyed for a hot Sunday afternoon and drank a lot more than anticipated. I had to make another batch the next day!

How Many Carbs in Sweet Tea

Sweetened iced tea, which typically includes sugar or other sweeteners, can have a significant amount of carbohydrates. For example, a commercially prepared sweetened iced tea can contain around 20-30 grams of carbohydrates per 12-ounce (355 ml) serving, depending on the amount of sugar added.

Iced tea made with sugar substitutes like stevia, monk fruit, or artificial sweeteners will have minimal to no carbohydrates, similar to unsweetened iced tea.

Ingredients

This recipe requires that the keto lavender syrup has been made in advance.

Image showing ingredients for a recipe: a glass pitcher filled with water, a dark bottle labeled "Keto Lavender Syrup," and four sachets of decaffeinated black tea.
  • Keto Lavender syrup - we use our homemade lavender syrup made with a low carb sweetener. If you don't have lavender syrup, you can add culinary lavender to the tea as it steeps.
  • Black tea - we use decaffeinated tea but you can use any tea that you prefer, such as green tea or a herbal tea.

How to Make Sugar Free Lavender Iced Tea

Stainless steel pot on a stove with tea bags steeping in hot water, creating a dark brown liquid.

Add black tea bags to hot water and steep.

A hand pours a dark blue liquid from a small glass pitcher into a larger glass carafe. An earthenware jug is in the background.

Remove the tea bags and add the lavender syrup. Adjust to taste.

Two empty glasses on a wooden surface, a small bouquet of purple flowers, a white cloth with text, and part of a dark bottle in the background.

Add ice cubes to a glass.

A hand is pouring cold brew coffee from a glass pitcher into a glass filled with ice cubes, with another empty glass, a towel, and lavender flowers in the background.

Pour the tea over the ice and enjoy.

Storage

Always store iced tea in the refrigerator. It should be kept at a temperature of 40°F (4°C) or below. Use a clean, airtight container to store the tea. Glass or plastic pitchers with tight-fitting lids are ideal.

Iced tea is best consumed within 3-5 days. After this period, the flavor may degrade, and the tea could develop off-flavors. Before serving, give the iced tea a good shake or stir to redistribute any settled ingredients.

Recipe Tips

Allow the tea to cool to room temperature before refrigerating it. This helps prevent cloudiness.

Be cautious not to oversteep the tea bags, as this can make the tea taste bitter. Follow the recommended steeping time for the type of tea you are using.

Add a few slices of fresh lemon or a splash of lemon juice for a citrusy twist.

A glass pitcher and a small glass, both filled with dark sugar-free iced tea, are set on a floral tablecloth next to two empty glasses and purple flowers.
