Homemade Facial Cleanser

This is another use for the great almond and is for external use.   I find the almonds work like a facial scrub and the oils leave your skin feeling lovely and soft.   The only problem that I had making it here was trying to purchase Witch Hazel.  Only one shop in Dubai seems to sell it and it is about six times the price I would pay for it in the UK.

You can play around with the oils and add ones that suit you.   For example, Tea tree oil would be good for skin prone to break outs.

I use this once a day instead of my expensive, chemical ridden cleanser.

1 cup ground almonds

1 – 3 tspns Oil of choice (Either olive, jojoba, sweet almond, etc)

1 – 2 tspns Witch Hazel

Ylang Ylang oil

  1. Mix the ground almonds, oil and Witch Hazel together.  Add more oil to get the consistency of a thick paste.
  2. Put it into a container with a lid on it.
  3. When you use this to clean your face, take a small amount and add water to it in order to make a spreadable paste on your face.  Scrub away for a few minutes, wash off to reveal glowing smooth skin!

Glad you like it! Neals Yard in Wafi seem to be the only place in Dubai that sells it and it’s not as cheap as the UK either. I now ask visitors from the UK to bring me bottles of the stuff too!

Thanks! Thoroughly recommend asking visitors to bring Witch Hazel over as it is very expensive here!
